Inca Galcilaso de la Vega
El Koricancha (Quri Kancha = recinto de oro), el monumento arquitectónico más venerado del imperio incaico, se encuentra ubicado en la ciudad del Cusco. Construido con la más fina cantera traída de los cuatro suyos, techo de fina paja dorada y recubierta con laminas de oro, fue el recinto del máximo dios inca, Inti, así como de todas las deidades menores de la cosmogonía religiosa andina.
A este templo ingresaba el inca y sus sacerdotes para rendir pleitecía a su dios, según la tradición, lo hacían descalzos, en ayunas y llevando sobre sus espaldas una carga en señal de humildad, tal como lo indicaba el Willaq Umo (sacerdote mayor).
Luego de ser saqueado el Koricancha (centro religioso del imperio del Tawantinsuyo) por Juan Pizarro en 1534 (hermano del conquistador), sobre los cimientos y esplendorosos muros fue construido el Convento de Santo Domingo por la Orden religiosa Dominica.
